The Ragunan Wildlife Park was founded on September 19, 1864 in Batavia (now Jakarta) under the name "Planten en Dierentuin", originally by the Culture Vereniging Planten en Dierentuin at Batavia. In 2015, Ragunan Wildlife Park BLUD changed its name to the Ragunan Wildlife Park Management Office pursuant to Local Ordinance No. 12 of 2014 on Local Equipment Organization.
